Happy New Year from River Valley Vettes

Recipe for a Happy New Year.

Take twelve fine, full-grown months; see that these are thoroughly free from old memories of bitterness, rancor and hate, cleanse them completely from every clinging spite; pick off all specks of pettiness and littleness; in short, see that these months are freed from all the past—have them fresh and clean as when they first came from the great storehouse of Time. Cut these months into thirty or thirty-one equal parts. Do not attempt to make up the whole batch at one time (so many persons spoil the entire lot this way) but prepare one day at a time.
Into each day put equal parts of faith, patience, courage, work (some people omit this ingredient and so spoil the flavor of the rest), hope, fidelity, liberality, kindness, rest (leaving this out is like leaving the oil out of the salad dressing— don’t do it), prayer, meditation, and one well-selected resolution. Put in about one teaspoonful of good spirits, a dash of fun, a pinch of folly, a sprinkling of play, and a heaping cupful of good humor.

Is this a ticket to the Policeman's Ball ??

Is that Bob in Florida , receiving a ticket for speeding ?? I think so ! There must be a story
behind these photos .That nice new yellow roadster may be just too fast for you Bob.
Anyway , it looks like a nice day for a parade even if it was rained on a little bit . More
investigating is to find out that this is just a friend of Bob's and it is a just a stunt to get us all going because we all know Bob doesn't break the law ! Ha !!
Cheers !

We plow snow" FAST" and "IN STYLE" up here in Canada

Kelly looks like she's getting ready to do some pretty
serious plowing here. A few members from the "River
Valley Vettes" went for a short Ride to Harvey to visit
a few members and see how John and Pauline Thompson's
new home was coming along.Kelly Kelly, Kevin Douglas,
Ron and Anne Gould along with myself and Lois made
one more run before bad weather sets in.On the way back
we stopped in to see Peter and Marilyn Wood for a refreshment
and a chat. As we came on to the highway on the way home
we met up with a red C6 roadster out for a spin and drove
with him back to Fredericton. A cold day but it seems those
horses have more get up and go in that cold weather.

Friday Afternoon Drive to Briggs & Little

A beautiful day for a drive and to see how John
Thompson's project vette in Harvey was coming
along.I stopped off at Jim Hamilton's along the way
and picked him up and then on the way to Harvey
where we stopped in and picked up Peter Wood.
John has all the parts now but just has to get the
time to assemble them. I'm sure she'll be lookin' fine
next spring or before Christmas.
Also a great place for a few last minute photos !

October Run

What a gorgeous day.... 27 covettes of every color and almost every year. We met for lunch in Amherst, where the 7 corvettes from Moncton joined up with the corvettes of Nova Scotia. It was at this point that most dropped their tops. The ride through River Hebert, Apple River, Advocate Harbor and Parrsboro was accelerating to say the least. We were having so much fun on this "mini Cabot trail", twisting and cornering, that the first 6 or 7 vettes forgot about the rest for a while. Thank you Brian for allowing us to release our horses. After a quick stop in Parrsboro to regroup, we then visited the Christmas shop to satisfy the needs of those that wanted to find that little something special; we made the mandatory stop at the Masstown market. Then it was off to Brian & Debbie Palmer's home for a wide variety of food and birthday cake (Roger & Brian are twins). Brian walked the group through the pathway he has (wide enough for a truck - and that's another story) which runs from his home down to a river bank that once was home to some now stolen trout (soon to be replaced). With the leaves falling and the quiet warmth of the day, the walk was almost better than the winding roads of the Glooscap Trail (I said almost). Thank you to a fun bunch of people, who love to get together with their corvettes - you make life happen.

"Putting Her Away Clean"

Bob says Ron would be proud of him, as this year
he's putting his roadster away clean for the winter,
before he heads back down south for warmer times.
The corvette season around here is dwindling down
and it won't be long and we all will be storing our
vettes for a few months. She's looking good Bob and
Ron says to keep the bugs off it next year.

CORVETTES AT CLARK'S

A cool day in October for a car show but it turned
out to be successful and entertaining just the same.
Members of the RiverValley Vettes and a number
of cars from the Moncton club were at Clark's Chevrolet
on Prospect St, Fredericton ,Saturday to show off their
"babies" , probably for the last time this year before
putting them away for the winter.Late arrival Bob Cromwell
was the recipient of the "most inproved corvette" at the show
and he says now he has to resize his trophy room. After
the show we all participated in a softball game at Kimble Drive .
Needless to say there were some laughs to follow for sure.
I'd like to thank Roger Bourgeois and members of the GMCC
for help making a fun day to remember.

Three cars [ "TheThree Muskateers" ] from the
River Valley Vettes made the trip to Nova Scotia
Friday in the pouring rain to participate in the annual
Scarecrow Festivities in Mahone Bay.Kelly Kelly,
Ron and Anne Gould and Tom and Lois Hiltz. We picked
up Bob Cromwell in Salisbury along the way. Couldn't rain
any harder all the way down but managed to stop just
before arriving in Bedford where we stopped for dinner.
Bob took us to meet his daughter in law ,LeAnne and
her 2 lovely sons. They directed us to Peggy's Cove where
we stayed for several hours climbing the rocks and taking
pictures. On the way back to the motel we stopped off at
the memorial of Swissair Flight 111 which crashed just
off the shore killing 229 men ,women and children. We
then headed back to Bridgewater to stay at the Wandlynn
Motel and a well deserved rest but not before celebrating
mine and Kelly's birthdays ! Saturday morning we travelled
to Kentville where we visited my old house and street where
I was born and never to return to in 50 odd years. Now on to
Kingston to meet up with the other vettes and antique cars.
After a short stop and a fast meal we all travelled together
back to Bridgewater and what a sight that was to see.We then
went on to Lunenburg for some sightseeing and shopping. Some
even elected to go on a horse and buggy ride around the town.
Back to Bridgewater where we were entertained that evening
to a Chinese auction and a dance. Sunday morning we all headed
out again and this time to Mahone Bay for a car show and
Scarecrow Festivities. I would like to thank Roger and Angie
Bourgeois from the Moncton Corvette Club for inviting us to
go along with them as well as the organizers of the Scarecrow
Festival. Thanks to everyone involved on behalf of the River

St John Port Cruise

Hello folks:
Eleven (11) Corvettes cruised to the Port on Saturday to greet the Grand Princess cruise ship while it was docked in Saint John. Some of the cruise ship passengers ( "cruise doggies") joined us to discuss Corvettes and other cruising stories. Some even snapped some photos of our club banner with the cruise ship backdrop. The weather was a tad foggy with those cool Fundy breezes blowing freely.
From CSNB were the Skeldons with their 01 blue vert, Judy McIlveen with her 96 Collector, David Williams with his 85 Z51coupe, the Weeks with their 01 blue vert, the Herringtons with their 05 white vert, the MacNeils with their 02 blue vert, Ian Joyce with his 02 torch red coupe, Bill Brown and Linda with their 00 Bowling Green vert, Richard Forster with his 84 gray metallic coupe, Gerry O'Brien with his 02 black vert, and Lyndon Hassan with his 78 silver anniversary coupe. Ted Collrin, with his gimpy knee, was able to join us but sadly was without his 91 6-speed as he is not yet comfortable speed shifting and doing his burnouts.
Our host, Alexandra Warner, and her team from the Port provided a barbecue with hamburgers and hot dogs, chips cookies and soda pop under a neatly erected tent. Alexandra also passed out some neat Cruise 07 Port baseball hats with all inclusive sunglass holders.
"have fun, relax, & save the wave",

Storm at Carlisle

It wasn't a tornado. It may have been wind shear. I attached some photos of the aftermath.
Temperature dropped about 30 F degrees in about 30 seconds; electrical storm was severe
with driving winds and rain.It lasted about 15 minutes just after the regular Saturday
evening parade left for the downtown - most of these vettes curiously escaped the damages.
Show went on - everyone picked up the pieces, some concession stands closed early the next
day.The real concern was for the 57 display which had the finest examples of 57's in North
America and a rather loosely erected tent --- see the pix. Some injuries ( thought to be 17
required medical attention), and some significant damage to very valuable collector vettes,
pro streets, and special cars was the result. Some concessions reportedly lost a lot of
stock....
Bill, Mark, and I were holding down an awning for 15 minutes with every intention to
"let go" if its anchors were to advance much further. As it was, we had little damage
and we were lucky I guess.

Annual Show & Shine in St Martin's this year.
Sitting back with a beer, sun glasses and a hat
to keep off the sun , he seems to be really
enjoying the music ! Weather held up and no
rain , that's gotta be a plus at any car show.
Lois & I met Ron & Anne Gould along with Vernon &
Julia Patriquin at the Big Stop where we continued
on to the Duncan's to meet up with Linda & John
and Bob Cromwell. On to St Martin's to meet members
from the Moncton & St John clubs. After the show we
were all invited back to the"Wishart Homestead"
owned by Greg & Claudette Turner for a barbeque.
I'd like to thank Roger and Angie Bourgeois as well as
Greg & Claudette for the wonderfull time and hospitality
had by all.

Birthday Boy

Happy Birthday Bob ! A few members from the
River Valley Vettes travelled to Westfield on Tuesday
to help Bob around the yard and to help celebrate
Bob's birthday. Travelling down was Linda Duncan,
Kelly and Harleigh Kelly, Ron and Anne Gould and Tom
and Lois Hiltz. We all had a great time working around
the yard and seeing Bob get another year older. We
even found time to change my exhaust in Bob's pit.
The great white "Frog Hunter" was [KK] there to capture
and release some tenants in Bob's pool as well.
