RVV Breakfast 2 at the Hilltop

I arrived at the Hilltop at about 10:20 AM for a  breakfast scheduled for 10:30 AM. At that point, almost all seats were  filled !  I was pleasantly surprised to see so many RVV folks out !! New members, old members and perhaps even potential members were anxiously awaiting  my arrival so we could get breakfast on the road !! Well, maybe that was `stretching the situation a `bit....they were  there and I did finally join them !!!  To be a bit serious, by the time  members stopped arriving, we had about 30 persons and I had reserved for 19...even thought perhaps a couple folks would forget to let me know they would be coming but  instead, a lot of  people forgot to let me know they were coming ! Fortunately,the Hilltop  staff worked around us and we were still able to  be seated together in the same area. ....Great to see such a good turn-out !  Two members have a birthday coming before our next get together, so they were the lucky ones to get deep fried ice cream with chocolate or caramel – (Sam and John J) We caught up on each other`s news and plans for Christmas ...ate  a tasty well-served breakfast......Most of us were happy with breakfast and it was definitely  most enjoyable !  Our next one will be `the morning after the RVV  After Christmas Christmas Party..This will cut down on attendance for  certain as some members have to drive in from out of town...(possibly, we won`t be quite as lively and perhaps not even feel good after partying the night before)   As a matter of fact, it might even be a longer distance than usual from our house to the Hilltop !!! smile)))  Thanks everyone for the great turn-out...see you at the  January party and maybe even breakfast on the 20th !!

CSNB Christmas Party 2012

This " badboy" , along with a $100.00 gas card from Irving was presented to me from Raymond Cromwell of CSNB Club for my work on their web site. A much appreciated gift ! Making the party Friday night were Kelly and Leigh Kelly and Lois and myself. A great time with the members from the Saint John Club.

RVV Monthly Breakfast #1

R.V.V. Breakfast Feast: Yes, the word feast is the proper word to describe R.V.V.’s first monthly breakfast gathering! It was decided at the Nov. meeting that R.V.V. would meet the third Sunday of each month for breakfast. Nov. 18th. was the first of these monthly breakfast meetings and first impressions indicate it is going to be a hit! Twenty-four members showed up at The Hilltop Pub for two hours of laughter, huge portions of delicious food, good prices and great service. We also had a birthday girl ( Julia ) and a member in the making ( Gordon ). Those in attendance were: Mac & Simone, Dave & Judy, Kelly, Wayne & Eleanor, Jim & Fran, Wanda, Mark, & Tom, Harleigh & Pat, Sam & Kathy, Vernon & Julia, Rick & Lisa, Mike, Lisa, & Gordon, and Peter. The next Breakfast Feast will be Dec. 16th. Hope to see you there.

RVV Last Run of 2012

R.V.V. Oct. 21st. Fall Run:

It was a beautiful fall day for our last run of the season. Thirteen Corvette owners participated in the tour that started at Boston Pizza with nine Corvettes. Those nine travelled to Harvey where two more joined the caravan and then proceeded to McAdam to pick-up another Corvette and do a photo shoot at the Train Station. The parade, now twelve strong, headed south to Calais, Me. where number thirteen joined the party. Members visited Mardens, V.I.P. Discount Auto, Wal-Mart etc. etc. before re-entering Canada and proceeding to Comeau’s and then north to our home territory. The parade of Corvettes was a head turner that even attracted an admiring seagull. ( talk to Arnie ) The shopping was fun and Comeau’s did an excellent job to go with the delicious food. We even got a preview of John T.’s next project. Those attending were: Wanda & Mark, Rick & Lisa, the Patriquins, the Calhouns, the MacDonalds, the Griggs, the Thompsons, the Adams, the Smearers, the Goulds, the Wilsons, the Woods and the McKeens. Thanksgiving with some RVV friends

A few members from River Valley Vettes were invited to Gloria and Arnie Adams' for a Thanksgiving dinner. Needless to say , cooked up by Arnie, it was 2nd to none. Mac and Simone MacDonald, Ron and Ann Gould, Lois and Tom Hiltz ( moi ) had a great time and a super dinner . Thanks to Gloria and Arnie for a great day with good friends and lots of laughs.

RVV At Fundy Park

Sat. Sept. 15^th 7 RVV Vettes went off to Fundy Park.  Upon arrival at Wolf Point we had a picnic lunch, played washer toss and croquet.

From here went to the Waterside Winery for tasting & purchase of their fine variety of Blueberry Wines.

The owner of the winery suggested we visit Cape Enrage since we were so close.  Many of us had never been there, so off we went for the 10 min. drive to the lighthouse at Cape Enrage on the Bay of Fundy.  We were there for about an hour taking pictures and viewing the zip line they have. From the pictures you can tell we were enjoying the beautiful mild weather.

From Cape Enrage we had to stop at the “sticky bun bakery” in Alma, where all the girls stocked up.

Sussex was the final stop for supper, with a fairly uneventful trip home in heavy rain.

Sunday turned out to be a day to go on "Corvetters Wanted Run". We had 9 cars out to the run . We visited Casey's and Country Pumpkin in Schefield. Missing from the pic were John and Dawn Garwood and Alfred and Linda Kenney . I had to photoshop myself in the pic, so that's why I'm in front.lol

RVV Invades Bangor

R.V.V. Invades Bangor:  Ten R.V.V. Corvettes made the trip to Bangor for the annual Wheels On The Waterfront Car Show. Friday morning, Sept. 7th. the first wave of 5 R.V.V. Corvettes left Fredericton and arrived in Bangor about noon. A second wave of 4 R.V.V. Corvettes left later in the day and arrived about supper time. Jim and Fran Good arrived with a different group. The drive was trouble free, the accommodations were great, the weather was good and the show had a large number of very interesting automobiles. The group ate, laughed, shopped, laughed, gambled, laughed, sipped and laughed some more!! Those attending were: The Robertson's, The Johnston's, The Wood's, The Patriquin's, The Thompson's, The MacDonald's, The Soucy's, Wanda & Tom, and Kelly & Linda. Lois Hiltz's 60th Birthday

Happy 60th Birthday to Lois Hiltz .  This time we tried the "deep fried turkey" for a change and it turned out delicious, moist and whatever else it's suppose to be ! Members from Saint John's CSNB came out to help Lois celebrate her miletsone were Raymond and Kathleen Cromwell, Ian Joyce and his hybrid corvette, and Stephen and Wendy Vautour. CSNB Corvettes on the Coast 2012

Despite the rain RVV members made their way to the port city of Saint John to CSNB's "Vettes on the Coast" Show & Shine. RVV members who made the event were : Vernon & Julia Patriquin , Mac & Simone MacDonald, Ron & Anne Gould , Carman Schwartz and Tom & Lois Hiltz.
Vernon and Julia were glad they made the trip as they won a 42" Flat Screen TV at the show !
Raymond Cromwell also informed me that Mac & Simone MacDonald also won a flat screen TV.
Four TVs were given away at the show ! Roger and Leotine Boudreau from Moncton ,won the Caribbean Cruise.

Geary Car Show and Picnic at the Lake

A great time by all Saturday as the weather was perfect  to participate in the Geary School Reunion Car Show and then off to the Lake for a picnic and some games. A relaxing fun time with a game of washers in which Lois came first and a remote control car race which Vernon came first. Oromocto Canada Day / Pioneer Days Parade 2012

Another perfect day for a parade in Oromocto. Weather couldn't be better ! River Valley Vettes participated in the annual Canada Day / Pioneer Day parade . This year president , Vernon Patriquin drove Oromocto's newly elected mayor , Bob Powell and John Johnston had Faye Tidd ( last years mayor) as Pioneer Kate. I drove Pioneer Pete ( a local area retired boxer) ,    who seemed to be quite popular with the crowd. Also participating in the parade was Wanda and Mark  Gadd. Pioneer Days was a great success in Oromocto and the weather co-operated ! Carrying RVV's banner in the parade  was my grandson , Logan Hiltz and his friend Tyler Faulkner.
After the parade , a BBQ  at my place followed , attended by John & Jean Johnston, Vernon and Julia Patriquin, Wanda and Mark Gadd , Harley and Pat Smearer and Laurie Ward.

Fiberglass Alley Event 2012

 Hi! Folks - Wanted to let everyone know that we so enjoyed the
 Fiberglass Alley event this year. Everyone in our Vettes of Coastal
 Maine car club is still talking about how much fun the event was this
 year. We attended the event last year and were on the "fence" about
 whether to attend or not for 2012 because we didn't feel as if it was
 "special" enough last year to attend again and drive the long trip, but
 everyone who had attended in years past and had gone to the event when it
 was held at the golf club told us that we must try it again and that it
 would be better this year. AND IT SURE WAS!!! We loved it!!!! The
 car show area was wonderful with the opportunity for the public to attend
 it much easier and everyone loved the embroidered hats & flowers for
 prizes. The golf club was an excellent venue for both the evening event
 & breakfast morning - the food was excellent and the staff there really
 catered to us. We stayed at the hotel right next to the car show area
 and downtown and this was very convenient especially because we were able
 to take our Dixie "dog" with us. You had so many great prizes and the
 PINK theme made it FUN!!! Hoping to see all of you at some point soon
 ~~~~~ a lot of us are attending the St. John event in August. THANKS FOR
 A GREAT TIME!!!

RVV Corvette Club supports Camp Diabest

Corvette Club supports Camp Diabest: The River Valley Corvette Club recently held a "Teddy Bear " raffle in support of the Junior Diabetes Camp Dia-best. The hand made Teady Bear was donated by club member Donna McMicking and was used to raise the $1000.00 donation to Camp Dia-best. Hi to all members of River Valley Vettes
Just a quick note to say thanks to each of you that brought prizes in for Fiberglass Alley 2012.  Everything went smoothly.  From Friday’s Casino to Sunday’s breakfast, people were happy !!! 
Loved having the Fredericton Golf Club as our Social spot.............everybody was commenting on how delicious the food was and how much of it we had to eat.  The  bacon wrapped scallops and meatballs flew off the table Friday evening before the casino opened !  The BBQ was, as always, delicious !  We even had a beautiful and tasty cake -  (Julia baked and decorated it,............:))) 
Can you believe the car show was almost a problem............(so many cars that we were running out of space) Vern and John handled that situation well)   The new style ‘class prizes were gorgeous...and it was a lovely touch having a rose for ladies  of the winning car.
Too much fun watching the people checking hands.......and searching for ‘nuts.  Those who worked the hardest found that it paid well.  Speaking of paying well – the rope event eventually did  get a good number of competitors !!!  It was won by a couple that I understand were from Quebec.  I NEED an address for them,...they won $60.00................. Second and third places also got  cash prizes.
Participants had lots of time to freshen up and get back to the Fredericton Golf Club for dinner and festivities...and a beautifully  decorated PINK room-Four girlie friends  had worked their magic  using Tom’s signs and  other decorations. ......What a meal........as usual, Aggie, Larry and crew outdid themselves ! Mainly chicken and ribs.....many  people had  two or more refills....Aggie treats us so well – is a joy working with her.  They help us in every possible way.  Not many places accept your final number for dinner at noon of ‘that day.
What a band !!!  Iron Rooster................If you weren’t there,....ask anybody that heard them.  They actually ‘learned some songs (car types) just for us !
Back at the Fredericton Golf Club for a well presented buffet of just about anything ! Scrambled eggs, bacon, beans ,hash browns ,fruit ,muffins, toast, tea and coffee...........YUMMY.......After many  hugs and good-byes and  oodles of extremely positive comments, our friends  left for home. RVV folks sat and chatted awhile – then, did the same.
Again, thanks to all that donated and helped in any way !

Sunday Woodstock Car Show

Sunday morning 5 corvettes from River Valley Vettes made their way to Woodstock for a car show at the Best Western Motel. Making the run were: Vernon and Julia Patriquin, Tom and Lois Hiltz , Wanda Gadd and Tom , Jim Good and Kelly Kelly and HDK. We met Danny and Karen Calhoun along with Peter and Marilyn Wood in Woodstock. Finally a sunny and warm day for a leisurely drive up river ! LOL !

Maritme Motorsport Museum BBQ 2012

It was a nice sunny day, and we had a great BBQ of extra fat hot dogs prepared by Bill Brown as you can see in the pictures.
RVV members on the run were: Vernon & Julia, John & Dawn, Wayne & Eleanor, Wanda &Tom.
Julia arrived with a giant cake compliments of RVV. Thanks to Kelly for picture of RVV cake.
The small block V8 you see in the pictures is a BBQ that was on display for a lottery prize.  Hope I win it.  You’ve probably seen that thing advertised on SPEED channel with BBQ smoke coming out the pipes! Imagine that.

We all had a really good time, wish you and Lois had been there too!

RVV First Run of 2012

Saturday, May 12th Members of River Valley Vettes met at Boston Pizza, Fredericton and then traveled on to Woodstock , then on to Heartland's "Longest Covered Bridge in the World". We had a total of 13 corvettes , counting Peter Wood's visit and a Volkswagon driven by , you guessed it, Bob Cromwell and Joanne Campbell. Roger and Angie Bourgeoise made the trip from Moncton to accompany us.Members participating were: Tom & Lois Hiltz, Ron & Anne Gould, Vernon & Julia Patriquin, Mac & Simone MacDonald, Wayne & Eleanor Robertson, John & Jean Johnston, John & Dawn Garwood, Rick Kelly & Lisa MacLean , Bob Cromwell & Joanne Campbell , John & Pauline Thompson , Wanda & Mark Gadd and Danny and Karen Calhoun. We met Danny and Karen at Tim Horton's .After some refreshments , we then dropped the ladies off at the Civic Center where there was a craft and jewellery show.Danny led the men over to Richmond Corner where Tony Brooks was restoring a 67 corvette.After touring Tony's amazing garages , we went back to pick up the ladies where we then went on to tour the "the Heartland Covered Bridge Patato Chip Factory". Then on to supper at the Riverside Pub & Restaurant. Great time had by all !

Corvette Annual Bowling Challenge 2012

River Valley Vettes traveled to Moncton to compete in the Annual Corvette Bowling Challenge. The three teams competing for the coveted trophy were CSNB,GMCC, and RVV.  Coming out on top was the famous River Valley Vettes from Fredericton. Thanks to Roger Bourgeoise and the GMCC team for hosting the event this year !

RVV "After Christmas Christmas Party " 2012

River Valley Vettes held the annual "After Christmas Christmas Party" Saturday night at Rick Kelly's home.Outside was freezing but inside things were hot with John Thompson's games and the great food on the tables. A total of 30 members showed for the "Pot Luck" , "Yankee Swap" evening! Was nice to see Roger and Angie Bourgeois up from the Moncton club and Danny and Karen from Woodstock.John's entertaining games and new version of the Yankee Swap made things a very exciting and fun filled evening! President Vernon Patriquin and Secretary John Johnston each gave their presentation of some possible new hats and coats for the club. Now the problem of getting everyone to agree on what style is another story but the coats will be black.
Thanks to Rick for opening his home again this year to the club and hope we didn't cause too much damage.

RVV Members Birthday

Friday evening some members of River Valley Vettes got together at Fairley's Sport Bar in Oromocto to help member Sam Dow celebrate his birthday. Members attending were Kelly and Leigh Kelly, John Johnston , Tom and Lois Hiltz and Vernon and Julia Patriquin. It was Karaoke night so Kelly and Sam hit the stage and entertained us all. A great time was had by all !!!!!!!!!!!
