Kelly wins Mayors Trophy at CSNB Show & Shine

River Valley Vette member Kelly Kelly wins Mayor Trophy in this past CSNB Show and Shine. Congratulations KK on the win . A beautiful 2002 torch red roadster done up very nicely !!! It was the car that "if he could take any one vette home with him" , out of 88 corvettes, was the one he chose ! Kelly took the win calmly ,,,,,,, NOT !!  Needless to say she was quite excited and why not !

Harvey Community Days 2011

What happens in Harvey, stays in Harvey. ( not all )
The Saturday weather was perfect as 3 Corvettes met at O'leary's and made their way to Harvey to join 3 more R.V.V. Corvettes for the Harvey Community Days Parade. Participating members included Wanda Gadd, Tom & Lois Hiltz, Vernon & Julia Patriquin, John & Pauline Thompson, Peter Wood and Granddaughter and Arnie Adams & Grandson. The 9:30 form up at the High School was very well organized as was the entire parade!! We threw candy to the kids, had each car acknowledged at the reviewers stand, glowed with pride at all the envious comments from the hundreds of spectators and arrived at the Fair Grounds at 10:45. We viewed some incredible antique engines, crafts, lots of games etc. and eventually made our way to the Thompson residence. Because of threats of bodily harm I can't reveal too much about the next 4 hours except to say that food was involved as was wobbly pop, a party barge tour of Harvey Lake, a topless person and a very, very giggly female from Geary. All of that plus a memorable run home in time to go the stock car races!! You will have to consult a participant for details.

RVV Members Conquer Mt Washington

This past long weekend members from River Valley Vettes travelled to New Hampshire, USA for gathering in North Conway . Making the run were Pat , Harley and Tanner Smearer , Tom , Lois and Logan Hiltz , Vernon and Julia Patriquin , John and Jean Johnston and Peter and Marilyn Wood. It was a perfect long weekend and the weather couldn't have been better. Sunny and temperatures in the 80's were much appreciated when deciding to ascend Mount Washington. At 6,288 feet, Mount Washington is the tallest point in the Northeastern USA. It's location at the convergence of three major storm tracks means that it gets battered year-round by some of the most extreme conditions on the planet. In fact ,the fastest wind speed ever observed by man --231 mph --- was recorded here in 1934 by the crew of the Mount Washington Observatory. Nowhere else on earth is readily found such a consistant combination of sub-zero temperatures, hurricane- force winds , freezing fog and blowing snow.Mount Washington is so unique that even though it is located in a temperate climate zone , it acually experiences the conditions of a sub-arctic environment ! The mountain's average days of fog per year is 237 , so we struck it there the right time as you could see for miles.Highest possible visibility is 130 miles. Thanks to Vernon Patriquin and Peter Wood for driving us all up the mountain and down again with no incident as the road is very narrow with no guard rails . When meeting another vehicle , there is not much room , and there's nothing there but air.
